Whilst washing, there are some particular areas of a plane that need special care: around the fuel cap, flaps, pitot, windows etc.. This is why I prefer to wash by hand, rather than use a pressure washer.
During the cleaning process, I only use specialist aviation approved detergents and polishes, which are non-toxic, and will not degrade the paintwork.
In the interior, special care is taken when cleaning the instrument panel, so as not to cause damage. I use an approved cleaner, and anti-static pad for these areas.
The windows are carefully cleaned inside and out, to avoid scratching. Light staining of the upholstery can also be remedied, and the carpets vacuumed.
